Imperial Guard was built by practitioners who believe that pest management, practised properly, is applied entomology — a scientific discipline requiring academic rigour, methodological honesty, and a commitment to permanence over convenience.
Imperial Guard Pest Solutions was founded in 2012 by Theodore Blackwood, BCE, following twelve years as an applied entomologist in both academic and commercial settings. His conviction was simple: the pest management industry chronically under-serves clients whose properties require scientific thinking rather than product application.
The practice he founded is deliberately limited in scale — we serve fewer clients than we could — because we believe that a pest management programme you can trust requires a named practitioner who knows your property, your history, and the specific biological pressures your location presents.
Every engagement begins with a written site assessment. No treatment commences without a documented basis for the decision. No client signs an agreement without knowing what it contains.
Every treatment method we employ has a documented entomological basis. We do not use products or protocols whose efficacy cannot be explained by the biology of the target organism.
In a city of Charleston's architectural significance, pest management must account for the character of the structures it protects. We select materials and methods compatible with historic fabric.
Every client has a named practitioner who is directly reachable. We do not route service questions through call centres. The person who treated your property can be reached by you.
If your property does not require a particular service, we will tell you so. Our business model depends on client retention, not on selling treatments that are not warranted.
We use the least invasive and most targeted intervention that achieves the protection objective. Environmental consideration is not incidental to good pest management — it is integral.
